Air Force announces AFMC senior leader changes Published Sept. 22, 2010 Air Force Materiel Command Public Affairs Report WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- The Air Force announced Sept. 22, 2010, the President's nomination of Maj. Gen. Charles R. Davis, the Air Force Program Executive Officer for Weapons, for promotion to the grade of lieutenant general, and assignment to replace Lt. Gen. Ted Bowlds as commander of the Electronic Systems Center. The Air Force has not yet announced a replacement for General Davis. In addition to his PEO role, General Davis also currently serves as Air Armament Center commander at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. The center is responsible for the development, acquisition, testing, deployment and sustainment of all air-delivered weapons. Prior to joining the Air Armament Center, General Davis was Program Executive Officer for the F-35 Lightning II Program Office. He is an experimental test pilot with 3,300 flying hours in more than 35 types of aircraft. General Bowlds, commander of the Air Force Electronic Systems Center, will be retiring after serving 35 years in the service. He took command of the Electronic Systems Center, headquartered at Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass., in November 2007. General Bowlds also serves as Air Force Program Executive Officer for command and control and combat support systems, the main mission of ESC. No date has been announced for his retirement or change of command.
