AFMC vice commander to retire after 35 years of service

Air Force officials announced today that Lt. Gen. Terry L. Gabreski, Air Force Materiel Command vice commander, will retire from the Air Force effective Nov. 20.

General Gabreski has served as AFMC vice commander since August 2005. Prior to her assignment at Wright-Patterson AFB, she served as the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center commander at Tinker AFB, Okla.

The general's 35-year career includes directing logistics efforts for the air war across the theater in Operation Allied Force, the 1999 air war over Serbia.

Throughout her career, she has directed two aircraft maintenance units, served as a squadron maintenance supervisor in three units, commanded three maintenance squadrons and a logistics group, and twice served as a major air command director of logistics. General Gabreski has also served at the Air Staff, Secretary of the Air Force and Joint Staff levels.

The Air Force has not yet named the general's replacement.
