JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas – Registration is now open for the 2023 Innovation Industry Days in San Antonio.

The Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center is partnering with AFWERX to bring industry, academia and government stakeholders together for the event taking place Jan. 24-26 at the Henry B. González Convention Center.

With a focus on emerging technologies, Innovation Industry Days will include training sessions, speakers and panels designed to help participants navigate the innovation ecosystem and work together to solve Department of the Air Force problems.

“We’re very excited to work with AFWERX to bring these innovation experts together in San Antonio,” said Jadee Purdy, AFIMSC chief innovation officer. “This is a wonderful opportunity for us. When we partner with industry and academia, and arm everyone with the tools they need to navigate complex  barriers, we’re able to work together to deliver faster, leaner and more resilient capabilities for the Air and Space Forces.”

Government attendees will be able to connect with industry and academia stakeholders to explore potential technology solutions for problems facing their mission, she said.

“Throughout the three-day event, Airmen and Guardians will be able to network with industry and academia and hear more about their government successes, failures and lessons learned while hopefully identifying paths for successfully implementing technology solutions for their mission needs,” Purdy said.

The event will also offer opportunities for industry and academia attendees to learn more about partnering with the government. Training topics include contracting, finance, acquisition, small business programs and Air Force organization overviews. Additionally, civil engineer, services, security forces, personnel, contracting, finance, acquisition, and Air Force Research Laboratory – including AFWERX – experts will be available to talk about finding paths for sustainment of innovations in those areas.

An expo hall will offer a glimpse into successful industry innovation projects helping Air Force or other Department of Defense agencies better execute their mission. Scheduled industry participants for the expo include various defense prime contractors, Silicon Valley technology leaders, venture capital firms and emerging technology companies.

“We can’t innovate at the speed of relevance without strong partnerships with industry and innovation experts outside of the government,” Purdy said. “The 2023 Innovation Industry Days will be a great opportunity to build those partnerships and learn from each other. I encourage everyone interested to register to attend. The collaboration opportunities at this event are critical to increasing the speed at which we can change the Air Force.”
