Air Force Materiel Commander Gen. Donald Hoffman sews a stitch into the National 9/11 Flag during a ceremony at the National Museum of the U,S. Air Force prior to the AFMC Freedom's Call Tattoo June 24, 2011. The flag was flying near the World Trade Center in New York City on Sept. 11, 2001, and was all but destoryed by the terrorist attacks. It is being stitched back togehter while on a 50-state tour. Stitches are added by military members, veterans, first responders and a vareity of community service heroes. The Ohio patch to the flag came from a flag flown outside AFMC Headquarters. Sponsored by the New York Says Thank You Foundation, the flag will eventually be displayed at the National 9/11 Museum to be built at the World Trade Center site.
