Second vendor F-35 canopy testing completed by HHSTT team

The test site shown from a distance the morning of a static F-35 canopy test March 27, 2020, at Holloman Air Force Base, N.M. The unique test, performed by the 846th Test Squadron, 704th Test Group, Arnold Engineering Development Complex, required the canopy to be heat soaked to a very high, specific temperature range while controlling the internal temperature of the ejection seat and manikin within their much lower, temperature range. Additionally, large poles support a soft catch net to safely recover the ejection seat and manikin post-test with minimal damage to the test items. (U.S. Air Force photo by Timothy Gros)
