WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio (AFPN) -- Dr. David Darkow explains the R2 helmet to Staff Sgt. Roman Lopez, who is assigned to the Air Combat Command Tactical Air Control Party. The helmet is designed to increase a user's efficiency, effectiveness and situational awareness on the battlefield. It includes audio, visual and computer-aided enhancements. ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. -- Tony Rodriguez, an aircraft mechanic, removes forward-trapezoid panels from atop a C-17 Globemaster III.
