Brig Gen BRIGADIER GENERAL JAMES D. PECCIA

Brig. Gen. James D. Peccia III is the Comptroller, Headquarters Air Force Materiel Command, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. As the Commander's Chief Financial Officer, he is responsible for more than 35 percent of the Air Force appropriated budget. This includes the financial planning and fiscal execution of the Air Force's research, development, test, acquisition and sustainment programs. He serves as principal financial adviser to the AFMC Commander, and as such, is responsible for command policies regarding CFO Act compliance. He is responsible for identifying funding requirements; building the command's budgets; administering the Air Force Working Capital Fund; executing AFMC's annual budget program of $60 billion and providing military, civilian and contractor pay service to 75,000 personnel. He also oversees 3,000 professional financial managers providing vital services supporting the command's units worldwide, including 10 major bases.

General Peccia was commissioned through ROTC. His previous assignments include various levels of comptroller, including assignments as a cost analysis officer, budget officer, budget staff officer and executive officer at the base, major command, air staff, joint staff and Office of Secretary of Defense levels. Additionally, he served as the 97th Mission Support Group Commander at Altus AFB, Oklahoma, where he was responsible for base operating support and more than 2,089 active duty members, 1,531 family members, 2,431 civilians and 1,196 retirees. Prior to this assignment, he was the Director, Budget Operations and Personnel, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Financial Management and Comptroller, the Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
