EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. --

Have you ever wondered what it was like to wash aircraft on Edwards Air Force Base? Tech. Sgt. William Horne says F-16 maintenance crews wash the aircraft so no serious problems arise.

"We wash mainly for corrosion prevention and to prolong the longevity of the F-16," Horne said. "Without these crews, corrosion is probably one of our worst enemies. Parts could deteriorate, different kinds of metals, carbons, plastics; if the aircraft deteriorates it can break in flight break on the ground and cost the Air Force tons of money."
