Building on the success of its 2011 Year of the Community College of the Air Force initiative, Air Force Materiel Command launched its Year of Continuing Education campaign on Jan. 1, 2012. While continuing to emphasize CCAF degree completion, the scope of YoCE was expanded to include officers and civilians with professional certification and degree completion to the master's level encouraged.

An analysis of the data at the midyear point has revealed the campaign is on target to meet its goals. The number of CCAF degrees awarded is up 8 percent, and overall program participation and course enrollment rates are up 4 percent. Those figures may not seem significant, but the months comprising the second quarter of the campaign (April to June) are prime months for PCS and summer vacations. Traditionally, interest in education programs decreases during this time period and based on trends, any increase is notable. The YoCE is on track to meet and exceed its overall goal of a 10 percent increase in degrees earned.
