AAPI mentoring panel set for May 24

The Air Force Materiel Command will host a Cross-Cultural Mentoring Panel in conjunction with Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, May 24, at 2 p.m. ET. The virtual event is open to all AFMC uniformed and civilian Airmen.

The Asian American and Pacific Islander Major Command Barrier Analysis Working Group lead, Amanda Gentry, who is also director, Air Force Research Laboratory Sensors Directorate, will kick-off the event, which will feature representatives from across the Air Force and industry.

Panel members include:

  • ➡️Edwin Oshiba, Acting Secretary of the Air Force for Energy, Installations, and Environment
  • ➡️Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Sharon Dunbar, Vice President of Cross-Company Business Initiatives, General Dynamics Mission Systems
  • ➡️Dr. Yoon Hamrick, Director of Staff, Ogden Air Logistics Complex, Hill Air Force Base
  • ➡️1st. Lt. Sofia Smith, Medical Laboratory Scientist, United States School of Aerospace Medicine, Air Force Research Laboratory
  • ➡️Staff Sgt. Kevin Blevins, Technician, USAFSAM

 

Maj. Charlton E. Freeman, commander, 72nd Comptroller Squadron, Tinker AFB, will serve as moderator at the event.

This is the third of eight mentoring events scheduled to occur during special observance months throughout 2022. The events are hosted by the AFMC Major Command Barrier Analysis Working Group champions and will focus on issues related to the groups celebrated during the special observance period.
