HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Government, industry, and academia are coming together to discuss the Air Force’s state of readiness and other topics March 27-29 at the Marriot Hotel in Newton, Massachusetts.
The goal of this year’s event is to answer the question “Is our national security ecosystem ready for the high-end fight?” Sponsored by AFCEA’s Lexington-Concord chapter, New Horizons 2023 will highlight missions and business opportunities to ensure the service remains ahead of global competitors.
New Horizons 2023 will feature in-person remarks from Andrew P. Hunter, Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics, Lt. Gen. Carl E. Schaefer, deputy commander, Air Force Materiel Command, and Maj. Gen. Heather L. Pringle, commander, Air Force Research Laboratory.
Representatives from the other Hanscom PEOs will also participate. Maj. Gen. Anthony Genatempo, PEO for Command, Control, Communications, Intelligence and Networks, and Perry Hill, deputy director of the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center's Nuclear Command, Control and Communications Integration Directorate, are scheduled for March 28. Steven Wert, PEO Digital, is scheduled to speak March 29.
“AFCEA New Horizons is really our premier event for industry to learn the specifics about future business opportunities and hear directly from Air Force and industry leaders,” said Wert.
Additional participants will include Brig. Gen. Luke Cropsey and Bryan Tipton, the Command, Control, Communications and Battle Management Directorate PEO and chief of architecture and engineering respectively, Mike Madsen, deputy director and director of strategic engagement at the Defense Innovation Unit, and Dr. Paul Nielson, director and chief executive officer of Carnegie Mellon University’s Software Engineering Institute.
Prior to the New Horizons event on March 27, a Small Business Panel will be held. During this, experts from the Hanscom Small Business Office, U.S. Small Business Administration, General Services Administration, Digital Directorate, C3I&N, NC3, and the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center Contracting Directorate – Hanscom, will answer questions from industry on a variety of small business-related topics from 9-11 a.m.
