Air Force announces new AFMC command chief

Air Force officials announced March 24, 2016, the assignment of Chief Master Sgt. Jason L. France as the command chief sergeant of Air Force Materiel Command. He is currently the command chief master sergeant of the Air Force Sustainment Center at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma. The command's current command chief, Chief Master Sgt. Michael J. Warner, will retire effective May 6 after 32 years of military service, including three years in the United States Army Reserve.

As command chief, France will serve as the primary advisor to the commander and senior staff on all matters affecting training, education, readiness and effective utilization of the command's more than 75,000 enlisted Airmen, civilians and their families. He will coordinate with headquarters staff, commanders and senior leaders on development and implementation of command policy. He will also serve as the command functional manager for the command chiefs, group superintendents and first sergeants across AFMC.

Prior to France's assignment as AFSC command chief in June 2015, he was the superintendent of the Secretary and Chief of Staff of the Air Force's Executive Action Group at Headquarters U.S. Air Force in Washington, D.C.

France entered the Air Force in February 1990. His background includes various duties in security forces, and he has held numerous leadership roles at squadron, group, wing, sub-unified command and air staff levels.

Warner's background includes various duties as a security specialist, a first sergeant and an NCO Academy commandant. Prior to his current assignment, he was the command chief master sergeant for 11th Air Force and senior enlisted leader for Alaska Command, Alaska NORAD and Joint-Task Force Alaska, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Anchorage, Alaska.
