Four Air Force Materiel Command personnel earned Analysts of the Year and Analyst Lifetime Achievement Awards at the Air Force Analysis, Assessments and Lessons Learned conference Dec. 8, 2010 at Scott AFB, Ill.

The award program recognizes scientific and operations research analysts, lessons learned professionals and airmen from around the Air Force for significant accomplishments in analytic and lessons learned support of the Air Force mission.

Three AFMC analysts were awarded Air Force-level analyst of the year awards and one retired AFMC analyst was awarded the Air Force Analyst Lifetime Achievement Award.

AFMC recipients and specific categories include:

Capt. Allen Cohen was awarded the Air Force Company Grade Analyst of the Year Award. The award recognizes the analytical efforts and achievements of a United States Air Force analyst in the grade of captain, first lieutenant, or second lieutenant.

Captain Cohen employed operations research techniques to automate the commander's oversight of a key acquisition excellence initiative. Additionally, he eliminated the need for a $100 million contracted software development effort.

Dr. Ted Lewis was awarded the Air Force Senior Civilian Analyst of the Year Award. The award recognizes the analytical efforts and achievements of a senior-level Air Force civilian analyst.

Dr. Lewis expertly applied the principles and techniques of operations research to establish a repeatable and traceable methodology for prioritizing the Air Force's portfolio of major command-requested development planning efforts.

Joe Huelsman was awarded the Air Force Junior Civilian Analyst of the Year Award. The award recognizes the analytical efforts and achievements of a junior-level Air Force civilian analyst.

Mr. Huelsman expertly applied advanced principles of operations research to establish an innovative, repeatable and traceable process for identifying a potential $800M in sustainment savings without a readiness impact.

Victor J. Presutti Jr. was awarded the Analyst/Lessons Learned Lifetime Achievement Award. The award recognizes either Air Force scientific and operations research analysts or lessons learned professionals who have had a significant and lasting effect.

Mr. Presutti worked as an operations research analyst at Headquarters, Air Force Logistics Command and Air Force Materiel Command, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, from 1964 to 1999 and led the only analysis organization in those headquarters for more than 15 years.
