Commander-in-chief stops at Robins Published Oct. 13, 2006 By Senior Airman Paul Ross 116th Air Control Wing Public Affairs ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE Ga. -- Nearly 200 Airmen and family members felt the thrust of Air Force One taking off after President George W. Bush departed Robins Air Force Base Oct 10. The Commander in Chief landed at Robins before heading to Macon for a fundraiser. Upon his arrival, President Bush was greeted by Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue. President Bush also presented 2nd Lt. Melissa Rosa with a Volunteer Service Award immediately after his arrival. Lieutenant Rosa is currently the spokeswoman for Hands on Macon, an affiliate of Hands on Georgia, a statewide agency encouraging community support through volunteer involvement. She has been a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and the American Red Cross. After the fundraiser, the president came back to Robins, where he spent about 5 minutes shaking hands with members of the Robins community before boarding his plane and heading back to Washington D.C.
