Team Hill Frontlines: Tim Martinez

  • 75th Air Base Wing Public Affairs

The “Team Hill Frontlines" series is a recurring feature that puts the spotlight on some of the civilian and military Airmen on the "frontlines" supporting our mission, people and families during the COVID-19 crisis.

Tim Martinez works in the 573rd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. He is a Voluntary Protection Program manager and a unit site representative. He assists employees with hazard abatement, ensuring everyone has everything they need to be safe and to help change the safety culture. Tim hails from Layton, Utah, and when he’s not going above and beyond to help his Wingmen stay safe, you can find him enjoying Utah’s mountains and sand dunes on an ATV, dirt bike, or UTV. He also enjoys fly fishing Utah’s rivers and spending time with family and friends.

If there’s one thing Tim takes pride in, it’s his hair. “My most identifying features would be my mustache and hair style. My team members are able to identify me on sight because of the Mohawk and mustache.”

Tim’s experience working on the COVID-19 frontlines:

Tim was crucial in early stages of the chemical and cleaning supply shortages. He took the initiative to research approved chemicals, then worked with bioenvironmental and safety for approval and implementation for their use. Countless hours went into establishing cleaning plans and single point of entry for the squadron. Tim not only stepped up to assist his squadron, but he also reached out to other squadron VPP reps, assisting them in implementing effective programs as well. He has voluntarily gone over and above to support the safety and wellbeing of the squadron’s people and mission.

“My favorite part about my job is the ability to help my teammates and provide them with whatever they may need. As an ex F-16 fuel systems technician, I understand how the mechanics on the floor think and feel, which allows me to help them in more beneficial and efficient ways. I really enjoy that my team members feel that they can reach out to me at any time with any issues, comments, questions, or concerns they have. Providing my team members with everything they need is a huge passion of mine.”

Tim, Team Hill thanks you for your service!
