HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Gen. Arnold W. Bunch, Jr., the commander of Air Force Materiel Command, thanked members of the 66th Medical Squadron for their COVID-19 response during a visit to the installation June 16.

Bunch, accompanied by AFMC Command Chief Master Sgt. Stanley C. Cadell, lauded medical personnel for working creatively to vaccinate the force and protect the health of the community.

“This pandemic didn’t come with a playbook, but you found innovative and creative ways to ensure we could take care of the warfighter and their families,” said Bunch. “I couldn’t be prouder of the work you all have done.”

The general presented a coin to Capt. Jennifer Mouser, 66 MDS officer in charge of Laboratory and Radiology, and Tech. Sgt. Joshua Andersen, noncommissioned officer in charge of Public Health, for their exceptional work over the last year.

Mouser is the sole laboratory officer at the clinic here and directs all COVID sample testing.

“Moments like these are a great reminder that what our laboratory team does is important, and is seen by our leaders and the patients we serve,” said Mouser. “It was an honor to be recognized.”

Bunch also applauded the team of Hanscom medics who deployed in support of a national vaccination effort in Detroit earlier this year.

“That mission was a home run,” said Bunch. “Our medics arrived and did unbelievable work and made tremendous connections with the local community there.”

Leaders from the clinic echoed the general’s gratitude and pride.

“I am thrilled that our medics’ excellent work is recognized at the highest level of Air Force leadership and am very proud of the accomplishments of this unit in keeping our community safe,” said Col. Mark Oordt, 66 MDS commander. “This team of medics made it happen.”
