To compete with and win against near peer adversaries the Air Force must transform digitally, says Kyle Hurst, on the latest episode of The Contracting Experience podcast.

Hurst leads the Air Force Digital Transformation Office, a new entity that resides in the Air Force Materiel Command Engineering Directorate. His office focuses on driving innovation into weapons system development across the Air Force in an effort to decrease acquisition timelines and improve life cycle management through digital engineering.

Through data-driven decision making based on digital tools and models, acquisition efforts are improved and collaboration improves, says Hurst. His office is focused on driving this digital culture change throughout all aspects of the workforce.

“Our leadership has said repeatedly--if we don’t do this, we are going to lose the next high-end fight,” said Hurst.

Hurst talks about his office’s mission, the reasons behind digital transformation and how the contracting community and everyday Airmen contribute to enterprise efforts and culture change.

The podcast is available on multiple podcast platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher and the Defense Visual Information Distribution Network. It is also available on the AFMC instance of the USAF Connect mobile application.
