HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Base officials will offer personal and professional development opportunities to members of the workforce through the newly established Hanscom University.
Focus areas include individual development, communication, leadership and followership.
“Hanscom University will provide CEOs [civilians, enlisted and officers] with professional development opportunities that enhance capabilities allowing for more efficient professionals,” said Master Sgt. Michael Kennedy, Hanscom’s career assistance advisor, who will oversee the new program. “The goal of our program is to develop the Hanscom workforce.”
Instruction is open to military and civilian personnel assigned at Hanscom, as well as geographically separated units.
Focus areas include career-specific training, individual development, leadership, followership and many other offerings.
Personnel can view a full catalog of courses and register on the Hanscom University secure SharePoint site.
Due to COVID-19, social distancing requirements will be met in accordance with installation policies in place. In-person class sizes will be limited. All courses will be held at the Education and Training Center in building 1728.
Organizers are looking at virtual options for personnel unable to attend.
The program will also offer an awards program for personnel to showcase the knowledge they have gained.
“Members can earn the award levels of ‘Wingman,’ ‘Leader,’ and ‘Warrior’ based on the number of courses they complete, in addition to completing coursework for each level,” said Kennedy.
Attendees will also be required to complete projects to qualify for each award level, according to organizers.

Kennedy, as the installation career assistance advisor, is the principal advisor to commanders and supervisors on force management and professional development initiatives such as Hanscom University.
