HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – A Hanscom weather team has begun evaluating user feedback on their new customizable weather portal in preparation for a full-scale release later this spring.
Weather Systems Branch personnel recently launched the Air Force Weather - Bridging Environmental Intelligence For Responsive Operational Support Portal, or AFW - BIFROST Portal, an environmental weather intelligence dashboard for users across the Department of Defense.
According to Maj. Jason Fontenot, chief, Weather Web Applications, tailored user experience is a key aspect of the new portal.
“Through a completely customizable dashboard, users will be able to see and interact with the applications that are relevant to them and their mission requirements,” he said. “Whether you’re a senior level leader, a weather forecaster, or just interested in monitoring weather activity in your area, this portal is for everyone. We wanted to make a portal that is relevant for all users, tailorable to their specific needs.”
The team is currently testing the portal with limited users and gathering feedback. According to Fontenot, they will then make updates in preparation for a full-scale operational release, expected in late spring.
“Even after we launch, we are always going to be evolving and adding new features and capabilities along the way,” he said. “We want to be able to move at the speed of relevance, and the best way we can do that is by listening to and involving users.”
