WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio – Wade Yamada, Deputy Director of Staff, Office of the Chief of Space Operations and Lea Kirkwood, Program Executive Officer and Director of the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center’s Agile Combat Support (ACS) Directorate signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on May 16.

The memo formally outlines responsibilities related to the design, development and sustainment of U.S. Space Force uniforms and signifies the close partnership between the newest military service and the directorate.

“The signing of the MOU with PEO Agile Combat Support represents a milestone achievement in the continued growth and development of the U.S. Space Force,” Yamada said. “From being a one-person show in the basement of the Pentagon, we are now leveraging support from the Department of the Air Force to scale production of our service uniform.”

Kirkwood added, “Uniforms are a key part of military culture and identity and our team has worked diligently with our Space Force partners to create uniforms that look sharp, are comfortable, and meet requirements.”

The Change Management Team (CMT), within the Office of the Chief of Space Operations, and the Air Force Uniform Office, within the ACS Human Systems Division, have closely cooperated to design, develop, modify and field new Space Force uniforms, including physical training or PT uniforms.

The Space Force will utilize a new MOU-designated program at the Uniform Office to develop maternity service dress and other items such as the service dress coat, sweater, and wheel cap. The Uniform Office expects to begin developing the Space Force mess dress uniform in the near future in conjunction with the CMT uniform team.
