DAYTON - Ohio -- The museum will host the American Veterans Traveling Tribute (AVTT) Vietnam Memorial Aug. 18-21. This 80% replica of the Vietnam Wall bears the names of more than 58,000 service members killed in Southeast Asia. As a backdrop for this memorial exhibit the museum will host a B-52 fly-over, USAF Flight One Pop-Up Concerts, historical displays, Veteran presentations and more.
In conjunction with this memorial event, the museum will have Panel 44 on display in the 4th building from Aug. 16-24. Panel 44 is a commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial containing the names of 337 American service members who died between March 9 -16, 1968. The panel was originally produced in 1982 to go on display in Washington D.C., but was ultimately not placed because of a crack.
The AVTT Vietnam Memorial will be open daily from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Aug. 18-21 located outside the museum near the flag pole. Historical ground and aviation gear displays, Veteran presentations, panel discussions and USAF Flight One Pop-Up Concerts will take place inside the second building.
The B-52 Stratofortress fly-over is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Aug.19 and is weather dependent.
