FAQ: The Doolittle Raiders Grand Arrival

Join the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force at 1 p.m. on Nov. 9, 2013, as it welcomes the Doolittle Raiders for their Grand Arrival at 1:15 p.m. The museum asks the Miami Valley community to come out and line the driveway coming into the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. We will wave flags and cheer the Doolittle Tokyo Raiders as they make their way down the driveway to their memorial, then gather at the memorial for their wreath-laying ceremony at 2 p.m. Click here to view a letter with more details about the Grand Arrival.

Note: This event is contingent on weather conditions. There is no alternate location. There will be no autographs.

Who is invited to participate in the Grand Arrival?
Individuals, families, companies, businesses, VFWs, Boy Scouts and history buffs alike. Everyone is invited.

When should I get to the museum to participate in the Grand Arrival?
Please be in place along the driveway before 1 p.m. The Doolittle Tokyo Raiders are expected to arrive at 1:15 p.m. Please note we are expecting increased traffic to the museum on Nov. 9, so allow for extra driving time.

Where do I go to participate in the Grand Arrival?
You will enter the museum grounds from the Springfield Pike entrance. Once on museum grounds, parking marshals will direct you where to park your car. Once you exit your car, walk toward the flagpole in front of the museum. You will be instructed where to stand along the driveway.

What should I bring to participate in the Grand Arrival?
You can bring your own American flags to wave. A limited number of flags will be provided. You can bring banners and homemade signs with appropriate messages such as "Thank you for your service." You can bring lawn chairs to sit along the driveway.

Please note if you plan to attend the wreath-laying in Memorial Park, lawn chairs and large bags will not be permitted in the park, and there will be a security check before you enter the park.
