High-pressure hydrogen, in the form of flames, is expelled from a turbopump July 12 as part of the Upper Stage Engine Technology test series at the Air Force Research Laboratory, Propulsion Directorate, Detachment 7 at Edwards. The testing involves developing physics-based modeling and simulation tools to design components of upper stage rocket engines. Modernized methods of design and testing will help reduce the amount of time and cost that goes into developing rocket engines. (U.S. Air Force photo/Ron Fair)
