Army materiel commander seeks lessons learned
Gen. Ann Dunwoody, commanding general of United States Army Materiel Command, discusses weapon-systems acquisition with Gen. Donald Hoffman, Air Force Materiel Command commander, during a visit to Headquarters AFMC July 1. The meeting gave the generals and their staffs the opportunity to discuss an acquisition review directed by the Secretary of the Army and the lessons learned by the Air Force in executing its ongoing acquisition improvement plan. AFMC senior staff emphasized the importance of establishing clear lines of authority and accountability within acquisition organizations. General Dunwoody and her staff also were especially interested in how AFMC handles the complexities of translating the needs of warfighters into acquisition requirements.
