John Moore of Centerville, Ohio, pilots a hand cycle during the U.S. Air Force Marathon Sept. 19, 2009, at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. Mr. Moore was paralyzed from the waist down in Septermber 2008 during an accident following the passage of Hurricane Ike. He is a firefighter with the city of Kettering, Ohio. He finished the 26.2 miles averaging just over 5 minutes per mile. His wife Meredyth ran the half marathon. (Air Force photo/Ben Strasser)
