F-15s en route to Korea
WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio — Three F-15K fighter jets—on their way to the Republic of Korea—cruise together Oct. 11 after an aerial refueling. The aircraft will be delivered formally to South Korea in early November as part of a program managed by the 912th Aeronautical Systems Group here. An advanced derivative of the U.S. Air Force F-15E, the F-15K is a long-range, multi-role fighter that can perform air-to-ground, air-to-air and air-to-sea missions during day or night in virtually any weather. It can carry 23,000 pounds of payload, reach Mach 2.5 and incorporates the latest military technologies, such as advanced computer, display, protection, radar and targeting systems. The three F-15Ks are part of a 40-aircraft delivery to the Republic of Korea Air Force taking place now through 2008. (Air Force photo by SrA Jennifer Wallen)
