Air Force Memorial Dedication
Eva Blaylock elaborates on an Air Force Research Lab display at the Air Force Open House Saturday outside the Pentagon. Air Force Materiel Command fielded several displays for all of its core missions—technology development, acquisition management, test and evaluation and sustainment. The AFMC display was one of many put up by several major commands and numerous other Air Force organizations in observance of both the 60th anniversary of the Air Force and the dedication of the Air Force Memorial. An estimated 30,000 people attended the Air Force Open House. Ms. Blaylock is a public affairs specialist with AFRL’s Directed Energy Directorate at Kirtland AFB, N. M. She used the directorate’s “finger zapper” to demonstrate its Active Denial Technology. This technology is the backbone of a non-lethal weapon, which uses millimeter wave energy to disperse hostile crowds or to halt attackers.
