A C-17 drops a pallet over Edwards in 2004. The 418th Flight Test Squadron recently completed testing a software upgrade to its avionics system, which will allow airdrops up to 35,000 feet. A C-17 dropped a 60,000-pound pallet of dirt over the Edwards range June 24 from 35,000 feet. The C-17 is currently certified to conduct airdrops at a maximum height of 25,000 feet.
