Evaluation team uses non-destructive testing on JBER Airfields
U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Jill Reed, Air Force Civil Engineer Center’s Airfield Pavement Evaluation Team superintendent, uses Geographical information surveying software to test the structural capacity of the pavement during an evaluation of Bryant Army Airfield at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska Dec. 17, 2018. A two-person team used non-destructive testing to assess potential non-visible pavement damage at all of JBER’s airfields following the Nov. 30, 7.0 magnitude earthquake, whose epicenter was located just north of the base. The deflectometer simulates 55,000 pounds of weight hitting the pavement at once. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Crystal A. Jenkins)
