Investment prepares AEDC to test next-gen engines

Heat exchangers will be installed on the framework, shown in this image taken Sept. 14, 2021, at Arnold Air Force Base, Tenn., inside of exhaust cooler 1 of the Aeropropulsion Systems Test Facility to increase the volume of exhaust that can be cooled in the time it takes for it to flow from the test cells to the exhausters. The heat exchangers are part of the Next Generation Turbine Engine Test Capability project to restore capability lost through aging of the facility and increase capability. The hole shown in the top of the duct was cut to allow installation of the heat exchangers. (U.S. Air Force photo by Jill Pickett)
