AFFF SUNDOWN

The Air Force is scheduled to lockout/tagout Aqueous Film Forming Foam (AFFF) tanks and systems like the one pictured here from hangar fire suppression systems by early 2023. The lockout/tagout and accompanying disposal of the AFFF tanks is in accordance with a 2020 National Defense Authorization Act provision requiring DoD to phase out AFFF at all military installations by Oct. 1, 2024. The Air Force is expecting to meet the 2020 NDAA requirement nearly 20 months early. (Courtesy photo)
