Changes coming for DOD civilian ID holders

Department of Defense civilian retiree ID cards will no longer be valid effective Aug. 31, 2023. The DOD issued a memorandum in February 2023 announcing the issuance of new civilian retiree ID cards would be terminated immediately and previously issued cards would remain valid through the end of August. DOD civilian retirees can take steps to continue to access Arnold Air Force Base, Tenn. The preferred method is to obtain a REAL ID, such as the one pictured at left in the above image, and register with the Arnold AFB Visitor Control Center. REAL ID compliant driver’s licenses and identification credentials are marked with a gold circle containing a star in the right corner. (U.S. Air Force graphic by Brooke Brumley)
