AFRL’s Directed Energy Directorate receives two SMART SEED Grants for optics research

The Air Force Research Laboratory, or AFRL’s, Dr. Joel Solomon, based in AFRL’s Directed Energy Directorate, is a 2022 recipient of research funding through the Department of Defense’s Science, Mathematics and Research for Transformation Scholar SEED Grant and will receive $300,000 in grant funding over the course of three years in support of his research. Solomon’s research relates to optics and the development of high-power lasers with increased eye safety for operators in the field.
