U.S. and French forces repair airfield damage during Exercise RAZORBACK

U.S. exercise planners and French leaders celebrate after French pilots land an Airbus A400M Atlas on fiber reinforced polymer matting during Exercise RAZORBACK, in Grostenquin, France, April 1, 2024. The multiphase airbase recovery training showcased two of the Air Force’s newest Airfield Damage Repair capabilities, Expeditionary ADR and Fiber Reinforced Polymer matting, to restore aircraft operations quickly and efficiently. Acting as the integration arm between the research labs and the field, the Air Force Civil Engineer Center’s expeditionary modernization team was responsible for developing tactics, techniques and procedures for the exercise.
