Air Force Research Laboratory initiatives strengthen warfighting connections
A Combat Laboratory (COLAB) is set up at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. COLABs are complete manufacturing and engineering labs built into 20-foot ISO shipping containers, serving as forward-deployed, localized, tactical maker spaces for the warfighter. Designed to expand frontline innovation capabilities, these mobile units allow teams to fabricate parts, repair equipment, and train personnel directly at the point of need. The Wright-Patterson AFB location is one of 18 COLAB sites deployed across the joint force to enhance tactical agility and self-sufficiency in austere environments. (U.S. Air Force photo)
